An awesome sicilian Wedding at Panarea, Aeolian Islands

KRISTIE&DAVID
❝ It was 1948 when Kristie’s grandfather left his home in the white Panarea to seek his fortune in Australia, like so many after the war. He later brought his wife and therir little baby. Over eighty years later Kristie and David decie to get married there in fron t of the sea, only to discover later, exactly the same day a Kristie’s grandparents did. They wrote me that they were looking forward to finding the viewpoint that has the family name: Lauricella. And here we are.❞
Kristie, an australian young woman of italian origin and David, an australian guy of scottish origin.
A crowd of energy and sweetness. Being their wedding photographer in the Aeolian Islands has been a feast for eyes and heart.
They decided to celebrate their wedding at the Cincotta Hotel on the island of Panarea, in Sicily, accompanied by their parents. A full blown elopement! In an incredible setting, on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, with Stromboli volcano behind the celebrant, which in those days gave a show with its continuous eruptions.
The island of Panarea is a magical place that has no equal, an ups and downs of small white houses set in the blue. A few steps from the suggestive remains of a prehistoric village.
Everything took place in the various locations of this very elegant wedding venue, from the bride and groom’s preparation to the wedding lunch.
A wedding that fits an intimate and layedback style but with great attention to detail. The bride has really an incredible taste.
The bride wore a 60s dress by Giambattista Valli, with wide puff sleeves and miniskirt. Jimmy Choo heels, gave her a slender figure that quickly navigated the narrow streets of the aeolian island. The hair, styled by the Modarea staff, kept the 60s style with low and perfectly equal waves.
David honored the memory of his father and his family, wearing the kilt as his wedding attire, with all the accessories that belonged to his father such as the sporran, the traditional highland purse and the sgian-dubh, the small, single- edged ceremonial knife
The bouquet and floral decorations by Falcon Floreal were in shades of white and green with Mediterranean flowers and plants and cacti. Musica e sposi with the notes of the harp created a suspended, muffled atmosphere while the very excited and visibly in love spouses exchanged their promises of love.
The wedding lunch was punctuated by intense speeches from the parents, which were actually many letters full of love, written by friends and relatives of the bride and groom who remained in Australia. A real surprise, organized by Kristie’s dad who brought down more than a few tears.
During the afternoon we all took a beautiful walk around Panarea together, taking wonderful photos and at sunset by boat we reached La Bottega di Rosita on the island of Stromboli which greeted us with a wonderful eruption.
Memories that we will all carry in our hearts forever.
