Getting married in Syracuse, Sicily and a wedding boat trip

GIULIA&OTTAVIO
“Few but profound words for Karen Boscolo’s artistic work in Syracuse, August 2022! We didn’t like a traditional approach to wedding shooting and from the beginning we felt harmony and intimacy with Karen’s point of view! Karen was able to take photos of our soul, able to photograph us like no one has ever done it before, the two of us and the whole tribe, as she liked to call us!
We recommend Karen non only for the great professionalism but mostly for humanity and spontaneity with which she is able to capture unforgettable moments and unexpected glances.
Thank you for joining our trip! Giulia & Ottavio “
Giulia. A ferret, we would say in Italy. Extremely empathetic, fast, lively.
Ottavio sweet, intelligent, poised.
Young and in love. Architects. It was an honor for me to be so appreciated by two people who work with and love beauty.
From Turin they chose to get married in Syracuse, his hometown and where his family lives. They brought along an army of friends and colleagues who blessed them with love. It was a gorgeous feast. A real day of celebration!
They chose to get married with a civil ceremony in the town hall of the city of Syracuse in Palazzo Vermexio. The wedding hall has the flavor of a certain sicilian decadence and is very suggestive. The high view from the balconies overlooks the main square of Ortigia, the downtowns of Syracuse, one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The bride preparation has taken place near the wedding venue and she reached the town hall on foot with her parents where the groom and all the guests welcomed her.
The bride’s dress had been designed by her best friend Dalila, and sewn by a seamstress from Turin.
It was very elegant and glam, instead of the bridal veil, a veil-hat with a retro flavor.
The bridal bouquet was very beautiful and simple and recalled mediterranean herbs and plants.
The groom wore a tuxedo.
The bride and groom decided to join the celebrant in the wedding hall together, hand in hand.
Numerous speeches by lifelong friends followed one another. Fun, full of subtle intelligence and that love for beauty that I fully share.
It is not uncommon for me to be moved as a wedding photographer. Indeed, it often happens to me when I listen to life stories told from the people that love the spouses most. They tell anecdotes of their lives, they know them intimately. It’s nice that such strong ties still exist.
The spouses then went to the pulpit together and in front of everyone, facing each other, they exchanged wedding vows. I smiled, because it was just like them! They could even get married by theirselves!
At the exit, instead of throwing rice, there was the throwing of olive leaves.
The spouses and friends improvised a tarantella in the square dancing in a circle accompanied by the sound of Sicilian tambourines.
The bride chose a change of dress for the evening by wearing an Elena Pignata Bridal wedding gown.
After a walk through the alleys of Ortigia we rounded the port of Syracuse where a boat was waiting for us and in full Dolce Vita style we sailed at sunset towards the location of the wedding party, Punta Maddalena. Punctual while the sun hid in the sea as the bride had always dreamed of.
Punta Maddalena is an awesome wedding venue, on the cliff overlooking the Mediterranean from where you can admire all of Ortigia bathed in the light of the sunset.
The newlyweds danced and enjoyed a midnight swim with friends and relatives under a starry sky.
An emotional wedding!
