Let’s celebrate love together

Jewish district of Ortigia – Wedding in an Open Roof Church

ADA&MASSI

Ada and Massimiliano chose to get married in Sicily in a wonderful open roof church in the Jewish district of Ortigia, the downtown of Syracuse. This place is dear to me, for important celebrations of my life and for giving me the chance to be the wedding photographer of several couples.

It is a very suggestive wedding location and the parish priest Don Flavio is young and of great charisma.
The preparation of the bride took place in her parents’ house in the typical Sicilian countryside, among the citrus and olive trees. The rooms were swarming with friends and relatives, different generations of women, from little girls to an elderly grandmother, all intent on making themselves up for the special occasion. My big fat Sicilian wedding!

It has been a lot of fun to photograph the various situations that arose and immerse myself in the family reality on the wedding day.
The bride wore a wedding dress that recalled the peplos, the tunic of ancient Greek women, to honor the origins of Syracuse which was part of Magna Graecia, described by Cicero as “the largest Greek city and the most beautiful of all ” – “maxima et pulcherrima urbium graecarum”.
